Hello! Thank you for coming to my website. I am a journalist and photographer based in Toronto.
I am currently a staff reporter at Canada’s National Observer, where I write about Toronto, specifically the dynamic between the city and the province on climate and environmental policy.
My work has been published by The Investigative Journalism Foundation, Mother Jones, The Toronto Star and dozens of local news outlets. I have been interviewed by the CBC and have spoken at events, such as the McGill Journalism Conference in 2025.
I was previously the director of small branches at the Canadian Media Guild, a film programmer at Carbon Arc Cinema in Halifax and a board member of the Atlantic Book Awards Society.
This spring, a collection of my articles are featured as part of a collaboration with the Vancouver Art Gallery for its Future Geographies: Art in the Century of Climate Change exhibition.

I took the above picture while in Fort Albany First Nation in northeastern Ontario, standing on the Albany River. The waterway is transformed into an ice road for part of the year.
Ice roads occupy an overlapping Venn diagram of alien and natural: built from water, manipulated by machine, and at the mercy of increasingly erratic weather patterns and temperatures.
In Canada’s North, the roads are lifelines for isolated communities. Outside of the winter road season, they are only accessible by airplane – no paved or gravel roads go in or out. Built up each year once temperatures dip low enough for long enough, the waters running through rivers, streams and muskeg are transformed into static roadway that remain for as long as temperatures allow.
